Shalya (57-15N 58-43E) is 77 miles west of Sverdlovsk on the Trans-
Siberian Railroad (Route 410)*. As shown on the accompanying line drawing,
rail facilities at Shalya include the following:
Rail:.yard eight or nine tracks wide, 4, 500 feet long
Rail yard five or six tracks wide, 4, 500 feet long
Car repair shop 160 by 45 feet, one track entering
Locomotive repair shop 150 by 50 feet, two tracks entering
Turning wye, effective length 350 feet
Coal storage yard 1, 145 by 145 feet, served by one track
Passenger station 160 by 45 feet, with a covered platform 710 feet long
