Chart, Series 200, Sheet 0245-10A,L, 2d ed, Jun 60, scale 1:200, 000 (S) Kounradskiy .(46-58N 75-OOE) is 9 miles north of Balkhash at the terminus of a.double-tracked electrified rail line. The Kounradskiy mines, reportedly the largest copper mines in the USSR, supply ore to the copper smelters in Balkhash. As shown on the accompanying drawing, the rail facilities include the following: two holding yards, one 2, 000 feet long and eight tracks wide, and the other, 1, 200 feet long and four tracks wide; four-stall car repair shop, 120 by 120 feet, through tracks, with connecting shop 70 by 55 feet; one-stall locomotive repair. shop, 210 by 90 feet; and turning wye, effective length, 350 feet,.
