.REMARKS
Mointy (47-13N 73-22E) is an important railroad junction 180 miles
south of Karaganda. From Mointy the single-track rail route 488* continues
south 126 kilometers to the Sary Shagan area, and the single-track rail route
488C leads southeast 132 kilometers to Balkhash. As shown on the accom-
panying line drawing, the rail facilities at Mointy include the following:
classification yard, 4,400 feet long and 10-12 tracks wide; three - stall loco-
motive repair shop, 165 by 65 feet, with adjoining machine shop 55 by 45 feet;
two POL tanks, each 55 feet in diameter; water tower, 35 feet in diameter;
turning wye, effective length 350 feet; and passenger station 120 by 45 feet.
