SUMMARY
Sofia is the capital and largest city of Bulgaria and the country's most
important communications and military center.. Three SAM launch sites
.deployed for the defense of Sofia have been identifiedon photography of

The quality and scale of the photography preclude detailed interpretation
of these sites.

19. 5 nm ESE of RP, in a hilly and wooded area.
REMARKS
The site is probably complete and operational. The six launch revet-
ments in the operations area form a fan-type pattern, similar to that of the
Orlovo (USSR) SAM site. At least two missile-hold revetments are located
outside the encircling road. No fencing or other security provisions are
discernible.

ments and missile-hold revetments form a pattern simil,a r- to that of the
