SUBJECT : Petroleum Storage Facilities
LOCATION: Vlone Bay Area, Albania
Both POL storage facilities are connected by an. oil pipeline to the oil
refineries located in an area 30 to 60 miles northeast of Vlone.

Two POL storage facilities are located in the Vlone Bay area. One
facility, at Uj Te Ftohte 1.5 miles south of Vlone, consists of three 95'-
diameter tanks (Figure 1). This installation was constructed during World
War II. It is reportedly used for storage of low-grade petroleum products
which are loaded onto offshore tankers via submarine hose lines.
A new POL facility, located north of and ad acent to Vlone Airfield, has
been under construction since -(Figure 2). photography shows
three 90'-diameter tar4qs and four 30'-diameter tanks constructed with foun-
dations present for six additional tanks, one 90' in diameter, two 751 in
diameter, two 35' in diameter and one 30' in diameter. This storage facility
appears to handle a more refined grade of petroleum product and probably
serves the adjacent Vlone Airfield. Four probable. CRATE aircraft were ob-
served on Vlone Airfield on photography. This is the first time in
several years that aircraft have been observed on photography of this airfield.
