ABSTRACT
In consonance with established Asian Communist naval vessel naming procedures
interested naval analysts meet periodically at NPIC to assign names to indigenious
CHICOM naval construction. The intent of this report is to provide NPIC product
users with a convenient reference document for interim use pending future update
of DIA AP-1-230-2-3-INT, Naval Ships of Eastern Asia(S). Dimensions and nomen-
clature described herein represent best available estimates and may be subject to
future refinement. This report provides limited descriptions of these Chinese Com-
munist naval vessels: Taishan, Wuhu, Hutung, Polo, Tungan, and Wushi.
NOTE: This is published as in Interim Basic Report in response to a COMIREX-
approved requirement and with concurrence of the Naval Reconnaissance
and Technical Support Center.

ARMAMENT: Two twin-barrel 25mm main mounts, one forward and one aft.
ELECTRONICS: Probably normal two-way radio. No radar observed.
REMARKS: Unit probably produced at Shanghai, China. A unique feature of this
vessel is the low cabin structure extending forward and aft of the deckhouse.
