Government forces are consolidating their positions around 'lei
Djereng in Pleiku Province against light enemy resistance.

the Communists are readying counterattacks, but we have
no indications of unit movements in the area that would suggest such
action is imminent. The North Vietnamese have sizable forces near the
camp, however, and could go on the attack with little warning. The
press reports extremely heavy shelling yesterday--about 1,000 rounds of
artillery, rocket and mortar fire-against the government's defense
line north.-of Kontum City in the highlands. Press reports also state
thatsharp fighting in the central delta province of Dinh Tuong has
