At least two government positions near the town of Koh Kong, 130 miles west of Phnom Penh, fell on June 27. The local government commander has reported his understrength units cannot hold out without reinforcements--which probably would have to come from the seaport of Kompong Som. Fighting- elsewhere in the country remains at a low level. The Com- munists have not yet seriously contested recent government gains on Routes 4 and 5, southwest and north of Phnom Penh Khmer Communist forces are threatening the provincial respectively.
