capital of remote Koh Kong Province on the southwestern
coast. At least two government positions near the town of
Koh Kong, 130 miles west of Phnom Penh, fell on June 27. The
local government commander has reported his understrength
units cannot hold out without reinforcements--which probably
would have to come from the seaport of Kompong Som. Fighting-
elsewhere in the country remains at a low level. The Com-
munists have not yet seriously contested recent government
gains on Routes 4 and 5, southwest and north of Phnom Penh
Khmer Communist forces are threatening the provincial
respectively.
