(Unclassified - SKM) LIAISON Received a request through office from Representative Joseph Fisher's (D,, Va.) AT AT They asked for a copy of the Agency publication entitled "Potential Implications of Trends in World Population, Food Production, and Climate. I forwarded a copy to them. 2. (Unclassified - SKIM LIAISON Received a call from Diane Choate, in the district office of Representative Timothy Wirth (D. Colo. ). She requested a copy of the Agency publication entitled "Potential Implications of Trends in World Population, Food Production, and Climate. " I forwarded a copy to the Congressman's office in Lakewood, Colorado. 3. (Unclassified - BAA) FAA BRIEFING Elly Vogtman, ~enate Foreign Relations Committee staff, called and asked that 4 June 1976 at 2:30 p.m. be scheduled as the date to brief Senators John Sparkman (D., Ala.) and Clifford Case (R., N. J.) on the Presidential finding EA/DCI, has been advised. 4. (Unclassified - JMD) LIAISON Phyliss Gustafson, Secretary to Senator Adlai Stevenson (D. , Ill. ), called and set 2 June at 3:30 for Mr. Knoche to meet the Senator. Betty Blackshaw, Secretary to Senator William Hathaway (D., Maine called and set 8 June at 12:30 for Mr. Knoche to meet the Senator. Carla Jenkins, Secretary to Senator Joseph Biden (D., Del. ), called and set 3 June at 3:00 for Mr. Knoche to meet the Senator. Mr. Knoche's office was advised of the above. 5. (Unclassified - DFIVI) LIAISON Called Colonel Steve Harrick, in the Office of Legislative Affairs at DOD, and offered to send him a copy of the transcript from the Agency's testimony before the Joint Economic Committee on 24 May. Harrick said this would be very helpful in their preparation before their June testimony before the same Committee. He also agreed to send me a list of all staffers with security clearances on certain committees. LEGISLATION Called I at NSA, to alert him to H. R. 214. asked if we could send him a copy of the bill so he could review it. 11. I LEGISLATION I called the Administrative Practice and Procedure Subcommittee of the Senate Judiciary Committee and ascertained that no action was planned in the near future on S. 1210, a bill which amends the Freedom of Information Act. 12. LIAISON I called Cliff Hackett, House International Relations Committee staff, to advise him that on 26 May I had left the paper on with Jack Brady, on the Committee staff, who said that he would notif y Representatives Stephen J. Solarz (R. , N. Y.) and Leo J. Ryan (D., Calif.) that the paper was available for them to read since Hackett had been out of the office that day. I also told Hackett that we had no objection to his reading the paper. 13. LIAISON I called Jack Brady, House International Relations Committee staff, and told him that I had reviewed the transcripts of the briefings of the Subcommittee on. Oversight and that none of them mentioned the country which Representative Michael Harrington. (D. , Mass.) was interested in. He indicated that he would refer the matter to Marian Czarnecki, Chief of Staff of the Committee, upon Czarnecki's return 1 June. 25 25 14. LIAISON I called George Kroloff, on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee staff, and told him that we had made a brief check but were unable to determine if we had any information with respect to Algeriazi communications/computer law without making a complete check which would take considerable work and tixn.e. I suggested that he might want to check with the State Department. I also told him, that we would be happy to take an informal look at his paper on international communications when he had it ready if he so desired. 15.1 LIAISON I delivered to the Administrative Assistant to Senator Janes B. LIAISON I met with Bill Ashworth, Senate Foreign Relations Committee, staff, and provided him with information he had requested concerning the Agency's relationship with the design contractor on the matter, which seemed to satisfy him. He asked about the provision of heavy water to a particular country and its use by that country. After checking with OCI, I called Ashworth and referred him to ERDA. 17. LIAISON Spoke with Sue Grau, on the staff of Representative Clarence D. Long (D. , Md. ). She said a constituent had requested the volume of worldwide shortwave radio stations. I checked with FBIS Liaison and they sent a four-volume book entitled "Broadcasting Stations of the World. " I called Sue and told her we would be sending her this package and the constituent could use whatever poriton of it he was interested in. 18. LIAISON At the request of Ms. Tucker, of the office of Representative Barbara Jordan (D. , Texas), I sent her a copy of an Agency publication entitled " Indonesia - 1965 The Coup That Backfired. " 19. FOIA Called Doug Mirell, on the staff of Representative Ronald V. Dellums (D., Calif. ),concerning his telephonic inquiry tor- I Office of Security, on behalf ofiI 25 1 who raised questions regarding the Agency's response to his FOIA request. I explained that Representative Phillip Burton (D., Calif.), had forwarded a letter from praising the same questions and we would provide him a copy of our response. Mirell said this should satisfy their interest. 20. LEGISLATION Called Ed Powers, House Appropriations Committee staff, concerning Committee action today on H. R. 13615, to amend CIARDS. The bill was reported favorably with the higher figure for FY 1977. I subsequently called Bill Hogan, House Armed Services Committee staff.
