2. (Unclassified -II LIAISON Rosemay James, a personal STAT
friend who is press spokeswoman for the Senate Foreign Relations
Subcommittee on Multinational Corporations, called to ask if I might send
her a copy of the classified or unclassified version of the National Basic
Intelligence Factbook. I said I thought we could and I am forwarding a
copy of the unclassified version. I suggested that if the Subcommittee
felt it would be of value to have the classified version after it had looked
at the unclassified edition, she could let us know. She says that all of
the Subcommittee staff members have clearances through Top Secret.
James said that the Subcommittee's title will change to that of.
the Foreign Economic Policy in the new Congress. She had earlier told
me that this represents a more formal venture by the Foreign Relations STAT
Committee into the area of foreign economic activity.
3. (Limited Official Use -lI LIAISON At Mr. Cary's request,
I asked Sam Hoskinson, White House staff, to check on the answer to a
letter to the President from Representative Ron Dellums (D. , Calif.) on
the Cuban airliner crash, a copy of which.Mr. Dellums sent to the Director.
We concluded that Mr. Dellums was. not asking for a response from the
Director, so none need be made by him. Hoskinson promised to try to
send us a copy of the President's reply. .
