Fosdick was very upset that Senator Henry Jackson (D., Wash.) had not had prior notice of the release of the memorandum to the Mouse Select Committee and I said it was our policy to assure that such not be printed but that the Select Committees have devoured vast quantities of data and this is one of those which was scooped up. She said that she requested for Senator Jackson that all similar matters involving him which have been transmitted to the Select Committees be,forward.ed to the Senator immediately. F 2. (Unclassified LIAISON Called Mike Kraft, in the office of Senator Clifford Case (R. , N.J.), who said that the statement referred to by Senator Jacob Javits (R. , N. Y.) was carried in the Trenton Times but that there must have been a mis- understanding by the reporter since Senator Case was directing the statement not at CIA but the Administration. We then had a rather lengthy conversation with Kraft indicating why he felt that the story on had been leaked by Administration sources although he acknowledged that this would not excuse confirmation by anyone who participated. in the briefing. 11. (Unclassified LIAISON Received a call from Chuck Snodgrass House Appropriations Committee staff, who said Chairman George Mahon said he saw a newspaper article about an interview with John McCone and asked me for a copy of that article. I told hirri I didn't recall such. an article, but there had been a full page in the Evening Star the other night in which the TV Guide article by Mr. McCone was reprinted. I said I would check further and be hack in touch. Mr. Thucrnaer's office advised this was the only article in recent weeks concerning Mr. McCone. Before I had a chance to call Snodgrass, he called rue and said it was the TV Guide article and they did have a copy of that. He thanked r. e for checking on it.
