SUBJECT : Meeting with DDS&T on Near-Real-Time Exploitation
1, Pursuant to instructions by the Chief, RSB/RED, the under-
signed telephoned in order to ascertain
the nature of a request he had made to NPIC. The following summarizes
that telecon.
2. On Monday morning, 25 May, representatives from DOD are to
meet with and other DDS&T representatives and brief them
on the DO concept as to now a Near-Real-Time System is to be used for
SAC purposes.
In reparation for this meeting, and probably in participation,
I Iwaists NPIC to present two cases :
a. How does NPIC want to insert its exploitation functions
into the N1 loop in a meaningful manner?
b. What experience or knowledge does NPIC have with the use
of a video (TV) type display of imagery? How could it be
used?
4. Obviously, the first question is loaded and presents NPIC with
its chance to propose its role in NRT systems. Since this is d Tipping
with policy and the future of NPIC, I em passing it to_for 25X1
consideration.
5. Our best answer to the second question is RED, 25X1
who has more experience, background, and know-how than anyone in NPIC.
I have spoken to about this,. 25X1
6. 1 gave no definite answers or commitments to 25X1
except that we will contact him again soon; perhaps today.

7. The NPIC NRT Study Group Report is still in limbo, as far as
I know. I don't know if has come to any conclusions or even 25X1
outlined a concept of the NPIC role m l did not 25X1
mention the DDI, so I don't know if they are aware of this action or
not. In any event, someone should speak again with 25X1
once the NPIC has its ducks in formation.
