MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD
SUBJECT: Release of "B" Configuration Camera Data

1. In early October 1970 with DIA reported

that I photo interpreters were having problems with the
hoto raphic format of B-configuration camera material which the
had been receiving. The major problems suspected were in
measuring objects on the imagery and in locating each frame of
photography as it related to maps or other ground information.
2. A telephone conversation between

might be best solved by the release of "B" camera configuration data

5. At the outset of the meeting it was determined that only
Modes 3 and 4 had been used inI overflights utilizing the
"B" camera configuration. The system has five modes. Explanations
of only Modes 3 and 4 of the B configuration were to be released to

order to prevent confusion Modes 3 and 4 would be relabelled Modes
A and B in the data released The group concluded
that an explanation of the data block, the "K" factor (aircraft
altitude), and a schematic illustrating the camera orientation for
Modes 3 and 4 of the "B" camera would be sufficient in answering the
requirement.
