Approved For Release 2004/02/11: CIA-RDP78B05703A0003'O0020022-7 SECRET REPLII REQUESTED DATE 20 May 1970 SPEED LETTER 5 E3 I I NO LETTER NO. PSG/AID-165/70 TO = Executive Director, NPIC FROM. Chief, Automated Information Division ATTN: SUBJ: ADP Costs Associated with the EPDF 25X1 1. Yesterday you asked what the EPDF cost AID. During the past year (actuall 1 April 1969-31 March 1970) we spent 0 on scftware (our programming) and for production (the latter comprises labor and machine time of our Operations Branch). 2. I mentioned the need to convert the EPDF programs from 490 to 494 (we presents run them at night using a 490 "translator" on the 494); we also have to add eight data elements to meet COMIREX requirements. We intend to begin work on this within the next few weeks; we estimate 1,400 manhours (roughly II over a six-month time frame to complete the conversion. 25X1 3. Even then we will have a "kludge" systen (e.g., indices on mag tape and abstracts on punched card). Thus, we have designated the EPDF as a prime candidate for redesign following implementation of the IIS. 25X1 cc:NPIC/PSG SIGNATURE REPLY DATE Declass Review by NIMA/DOD fi Exciaded from automatic down radin; 4114 deClSSSlt1C11ti011 I SIGNATURE WNA TO ORIGINATOR M 1831 - PPC9N9 - 5-67 ~r + EDITIONS SECRET ILLEGIB Approved For Release 2004/02/11: CIA-RDP78BO5703A000300020022-7 Approved For Release 2004/02/11: CIA-RDP78BO5703A000300020022-7
