Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2013/09/24: CIA-RDP78B05167A001900110002-1 IEG-57/73 22 February 1973 MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD SUBJECT : Cuban Missile Crisis Exhibit The following comments by visitors to the Cuban Missile Crisis Exhibit, Corridor D, Headquarters, 9 October 1972 - 16 February 1973, are representative of those deposited in a box provided for the purpose. The ratio of complimentary remarks to derogatory re- marks is also representative of the overall comments on the exhibit. The consensus is that the exhibit was very well received and that both veteran and new employees would like to see--and take great pride in--more displays of this kind. The uncomplimentary remarks fall into two general categories: (1) those who prefer "extra-curricular" displays, and (2) those who felt that the Cuban exhibit was displayed for too long a time. Outstanding: Excellent exhibit. Why can't the Agency send a display like this out into the real world? An intelligence triumph such as this should be shared with the taxpayers. Exoellent display. Certainly better than amateur artists and craftsman exhibits. If declassified, this might be good public relations if given to LIFE, or NEWSWEEK. Superb!!. A highly enlightening exhibit.. This should be opened to all of the public to see one small part of the government in action. Excellent. Wish more people could see it. This is the best exhibit I've seen in the corridor. More like it, please. This is without a doubt the best exhibit I have ever seen shown here. Good show! I should like to see more of this caliber. An exceptional display. Would like to see more like it. Outstanding exhibit. Thanks, this is very good. Excellent. If you can do this, why was the 25th anniversary one so absolutely crummy? Excellent!!! Exhibit should ghow Col. Stig Wennerstrom, Swedish spy for Soviets, who warned Soviets of pending U. S. blockade of Cuba six days before it went into effect. Also would give Soviet "total intelligence" picture. Excellent! (American University associate) An excellent display!!! Very interesting and factual. One of the beSt displays I :have seen in two years in CIA. Very good. This really is great. Best exhibit yet--very effectively written and displayed. Thank you! Excellent Cuban exhibit. But why'don't you put the comment box at the other end of the display? This is outstanding. As one of the present OCI analysts on Cuba, I think this is a fantastic presentation. I would strongly recommend that the display be accessible to visitors during the family tours next month. Suggest this display be opened to Spouse Day visitors. Fantastic! An excellent exhibit. This exhibit is so good! Believe it should be incorporated into a brochure for distribution. By far the most interesting exhibit here ever. This presentation is, outstanding.. I.suggest.it remain up for family visitation day So that our families .(especially) our younger.people) .may.appreciate the functions:of CIA better. 2 STAT i Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2013/09/24 : CIA-RDP78B05167A001900110002-1 Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2013/09/24: CIA-RDP78B05167A001900110002-1 Excellent, enjoyed it very much. The finest display ever. Makes us all feel proud. Also, very informative--great to see the facts instead of sifting through newspaper garbage. EXCELLENT! Readable and viewable. Good show! Very interesting. This is an excellent exhibit--and well worth the public relations effect. In fact, why not do the same with other intelligence events of note, and "advertise" a few of our successes? Very interesting and informative.? Good job. Very informative and well done. An absolutely magnificent planned display. The photographs, detailed plans, and equipment is more informative than any ever seen at the Agency. Congratulations to all concerned. Very well done exhibit; photo tables especially interesting, but a fine job was done overall. Fantastic--let's have more of these. A splendid exhibit! Why not show it at the Smithsonian? The public would surely be interested. Or is it not suf- ficiently declassified for that? I think this display would be of great interest to the public (if possible). A display at Tyson's Corners would really draw a crowd and put CIA in good light for a change. An excellent exhibit, from one who knows-- a lesson to present statesmen. It was a very nice EXHIBIT:" ? Great! A superb exhibit. . Can reprints of the text and/or the photos be disseminated in bound form? This is a subject of great and lasting interest to all intelligence officers. Excellent--clear and understandable-- Excellent--Best yet! Excellent Exhibition. Excellent--place on exhibit outside Agency, Smithsonian for example. How about something different?! Change the exhibit hall display. I'm sick of looking at it. Let's get a new exhibit. This one has been here long enough! This is an interesting and informative display, but isn't it time for something new--perhaps related, e.g., Bay of Pigs? Isn't it about time to change the exhibit? What will be your sequel to the Cuban crisis? More lights? Sir: We should have a small antique show and sale or ex- Let's get back to the art. . ? - .
