Declass Review by NGA.
(CSD) and the undersigned visited
on 27 January 1966 to observe the company's
high resolution flat faced cathode ray tube (CRT) and to obtain particulars
as to the production of high resolution hard copy by the use of this
tube. Neither were available
for discussion but substituted
for them. A brief rundown of the capability and products of DBS was
given.
The company's advertised flat faced CRT was demonstrated on a test
set up for a special kinescope experiment, with controls for focus,
spot wobble, etc., built in. The development proposed to NPIC was to
be a unit that would produce 70mm film transparency records of each
T.V. frame of a taped program by the use of a synchronized camera. The
film would then be processed and placed on a light table or viewer where
the P.I. would then select the particular frame or frames of interest.
was under the impression that a stop motion capability (for
individual frame selection) was not anticipated for our purposes but
indicated that this approach would be discussed with and
another outline would be submitted. It was indicated that a disk type
unit would probably be best suited for frame selection and stop motion
capabilities.
In summary, the high resolution flat faced CRT referred to by
is nothing but the company's version of a Kinescope tube.
The letter proposal sent NPIC was intended to describe what is
essentially a 70mm kinescope arrangement.
