The image quality of acquisition materials is improving so that present
rear-projection viewing will not display it to its best advantage. The
illumination, film transport and lens systems require significant improvement in NP

This contract will provide for the development of new-and higher performing
rear-projection systems. and will call upon the contractor to provide monthly
reports.

describe the requirements leading to improvement in this vi-wing system.

The present scanning process still provides the only means for simultaneous
group analysis -- this is by rear-projection viewing. Direct optical systems
are far superior to rear-projection viewing systems, present requirements will
call for improvements in rear-projection viewing so that it approachapproves
the quality of direct viewing. The direct will require component development
intended to solve limitations of the present rear-projection viewers, improve
lenses, film transports, illumination and screens.
