1. The reference had, as enclosures, samples of the "Dry
Process Film which had been heat-processed by two different method.>.
One set of three samples had been processed on a hot "mangle" roller,
the other set of three samples had been processed on a heated silicone
rubber belt. The samples in each set represent three combinations
of film velocity and processing temperature.
2. On l4+ September the undersigned gave the two sets of samples
to IAD/CIA for evaluation, by P.I.'s, of surface
deformation due to contact with the heated roller or belt. The
samples were returned on 16 September with a note to the effect that
while both sets were acceptable, the material processed on the
heated belt was preferred to that processed by the "mangle" roller,.
3. The undersigned telephonedi on 17 September and
informed him that we preferred the results of the heated belt. Durin
this telephone calli volunteered to send
to discuss specifications for a field type of printer-
processor. is working on our Dry Process and Printer-
Processor contracts A better plan might be
to take a P.I. to where a mock-up and existing equipment would
be available for demonstration. Any time spent on this project would
divert from the existing contracts.
