SUBJECT: Briefing Print Enlarger (Prototype)
TASK/PROBLEM
1. Design, fabricate, and test a prototype briefing print enlarger
(BPE) based upon tests and observations of the breadboard equipment de-
veloped on the combined PAR 202/224.
DISCUSSION
2. Manufacturing activity consisted of assembly work and a minor
amount of parts fabrication based on drawings released up to 8 January 1967.
3. -Engineering activity consisted of follow-up of fabrication, making
corrections in drawings, and completing four subassembly drawing:,. The
final assembly drawing is being prepared.
4. Copies of the revised tentative specification (Specification 469-
333A, 30 November 1966) and preliminary spare parts lists were transmitted
to the customer early in the month.
5. It now appears that the prototype enlarger will be delivered to
the customer around 1 July rather than 24 April as scheduled. The April
delivery was based on expected completion of all parts drawings by mid-
October 1966, which was not achieved. The new expected delivery date is
based on a review of the fabrication schedule which was made after the
last part drawing was released on 8 January 1967.
PLANNED ACTIVITY
6. In the next month, it is expected that:
a. The final assembly drawing and mechanical assembly effort
will be completed.
b. Electrical assembly will be initiated.
