MEMORANDUM FOR: Assistant for Plans and Development, NPIC
SUBJECT Modification of
1. The first group of dovetail modified microstereoscopes were
received by PAG on 11 May 1966. A problem has arisen which we were
not aware of during the discussions held prior to the actual modifi-
cation of these insttments. There are two additional pieces re-
sulting from this modification - one a, cover for the rhomboid when
it is not used, the other a, mount for auxiliary 0.5X and 2.OX lenses
used during monoscopic viewing. There are no serial number plates
provided for identification of these pieces with the associated Zoom
70. It is requested that one be provided for each piece in order that
all equipment can be accounted for and kept with its respective
microscope.
2. According to memorandum NPIC/P&DS/D/6-735 dated 20 January
1966, the Zoom 70 Heads and Rhomboids were to have plates attached
to them bearing large, well-defined serial numbers. The
representatives now working on the modifications have received no
instructions to provide these plates. The only solution at this
point would be to keep a, record of equipment that has no serial
number plate and request this from These plates
could then be affixed to the equipment during normal maintenance
cycles.
3. In order to aid PAG in keeping account of the additional
pieces of equipment and to simplify inventory, your attention to
this matter as soon as possible would be appreciated.
