SUBJECT: Evaluation of Recent R&D Equipment on Loan to PAG
1. The equipment evaluated by the Photographic Analysis Group
during the past month has included ted Scale Micrometer, 1.3X
Widefield Objective, 2X Rhomboid, epiece with its compen-
sating eyepiece and the Gonimeter with its compensating eyepiece.
2. The photointerpreters in PAG were enthusiastic about the useful-
ness of all of the items except the Projected Scale Micrometer. This
item, although improved over the original model, will not be as useful
as the filar eyepiece. In cases where the Zoom 70 is preferred for
measurement, the older Projected Scale Micrometer will be used.
3. A modification was suggested for the chip clamping device on
the film stage to allow more latitude in "Y" travel of the stage. The
present knurled knob located at the center of the chip clamping device
could be removed and finger lift tabs made as extensions of the device.
This would allow a flat plate to be used without any vertical projections
to prohibit "Y" travel when using the 1.3X objectives. A sketch is
included for your review. Provision should also be made for use of the
Filar Eyepiece in either the left or right eyepiece tube of the High Power
Stereoviewer.
4. It is the consensus of the Photographic Analysis Group that the
items evaluated will be of considerable value to the photointerpreters.
Improving the capability of existing equipment has been accomplished by
these actions.
