The purpose of this memorandum is to re-state the flight plan of Mission 1105. The projected flight plan of this and other upcoming missions was originally disseminated to the addressees through the above referenced memorandum. 2. KH-4B, Mission 1105, will be configured in the following manner: a. There will be no Dual Improved Stellar Index Camera (DISIC) on this mission. All vehicle/camera attitude information will be derived from nominal values and horizon imagery. b. SO-380, ultra thin base (UTB) film will constitute the primary film load of both panoramic cameras. The use of UTB results in a film load increase of approximately fifty percent. There will be approximately 48,000 feet of primary camera film compared to the normal 32,000 feet of 3404. 25X1 D c. The use of UTB film necessitated a change in the film roller configuration (for this mission only) which resulted in an increase in the format length. However, there has been no film metering modification. Therefore, there will be image overlapping between every second panoramic camera frame and horizon image pair. The overlap will be approximately 0.25 inch and will involve the bonus area (out-of-focus) of the panoramic camera photography and the terrain side of the horizon imagery. The NPIC component responsible for deter- mining attitude from the horizon photography, has concluded that the overlap will render the attitude solution weaker but will not constitute a serious degradation. 2"i oved For Release 2000/08/3 IARDP78BO4767A0003000500,1.8-3 . 6`rs HaNOLE~ 'dta 25X1 A TOP SECRET Approved For Release 2000/08/31P78 767A000300050018-3 SUBJECT: Mission 1105 Flight Plan d. There will be 500 feet of S0-121.Ektachrome, tri-pack reversal color film exposed during the mission. It will constitute the last 500. feet of the aft panoramic camera film load and will be exposed in stereo with the forward camera black and white record. The S0-380 and S0-121 film thickness difference will result in an estimated 300-500. feet of S0-380 forward camera film available for monoscopic coverage. To alleviate an abrupt film thickness change in the camera system, a 50 foot section of film type 3404 (standard thin base) film will be spliced between the S0-380 and the S0-121 (standard base) films. e. A third generation Petzval lens will be used in the forward camera and a second generation Petzval in the aft. The difference in lens design should result in a significantly better product from the forward camera than from the aft. This is the same combination of lenses used on Mission 1104.
