Approved For Release 2002/CONFlDEN 06/17: CIA- AL P78B04747A003000020017-9 NPIC/P&DS/D/6-1638 25 October 1966 MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD SUBJECT: Telecon Pertaining to Mensuration Accuracy of Stereo Point Transfer Device elephone conversation 1 , indicated that there are two methods of bringing the Stereo Point Transfer up to meeting measuring accuracy as set forth in the specifications. A. Shim Method Shim both Y axes to half the existing error (Left is 20 microns and Right is 28 microns). Specification maximum is 15 microns in 9 inches s would require B. Correction Cam Method This would cut the error one-half on all four axes by employing a tilt nut type of an arrangement. This would require about l2 weeks total time and cost or all four axes. 2. wants either method done as a change in scope. They do not intend to do this and absorb the cost laims that the specifications require only their best effort and does not require 22 microns + .005% of distance traveled. 3. The information obtained from this change in scope would also be applicable to future digitizing of the fiber optic viewers.
