As you are aware, a request for additional funding was submitted to you
by Reference (a), approximately one month prior to delivery of the
equipment. However, that request for additional funding, which was
subsequently approved, was not sufficient to cover added costs incurred ?
in solving two technical prob1er.-1::. which developed following that submittal.
The two problem areas are discussed below:
1. Paint Matching - Matchingt...0 existing painted crinkle finish of the.
En arrzer proved difficult. Even though the paint was obtained
directly from some parts were painted and baked two and
three times in order to obtain an adequate paint match.
2. Light Baffling Mechanism - During the assembly and test phase of the

adequate. The baffling permitted some light leakage which could result
in film damage. To overcome these problems Live new parts were designed,
fabricated, and assembled.

the superior technical performance by the Contractor.

2. The attached overrun request from the Contractor dated 26 May 1967
states that technical difficulties caused them to incur costs above those
originally allocated. Specifically, of overrun costs are claimed. 25X1A

quest for additional hourly costs.
