25X1A 1. Reference is made to your verbal re uest that a member of IPD
accompany the contract monitor to during the
25X1A week of 15 February for preliminary in-factory acceptance tests on the
While we are not familiar with the terms of the con-
tract which call for preliminary in-factory acceptance tests, we
believe it would be inadvisable to participate in such tests at the
factory. Final acceptance of the plotter is dependent upon its oper-
ating on-line with the 490 over a continued period. While it would be
possible for us to observe the plotter performing its various functions,
it seems to me it is not a suitable test of its capability to operate
on-line with the 490 and I do not feel we should in any way prejudice
25X1A our right to insist upon full and precise continuous operational checks
of the plotter once installed in
should satisfy themselves that the plotter works to meet specifications
25X1A prior to their shipment of it here. For these reasons I do not plan to
send anyone to- to participate in factory acceptance tests.
