SUBJECT: Development Objectives: Color Sheet Film and
Color Print Dryer

the unanimous reaction has been, why study? We are of the opinion
that there are only a few methods to remove moisture from paper or
film, e.g., physically removing it or by heat, or by absorption.
2. We should like to suggest t t, because of the urgency of
the problem, that or any other qualified manu-
facturer be approached with a proposition to build a Drum type dryer
that will accept a 60 inch piece of material.. We also feel that the
possibility of making the dryer capable of both glossy and matte drying
should be explored.
3. As to film drying we feel that a possible approach would again
be a proposition to industry to build a;filir.. alley type arrangement
employing warm (not hot) super-dry air and a. conveyor. This arrangement
must be built to accomodate 52 inch materials.
4. We feel that the above approach would give us a capability for
several years to come and would be much more economical than the study
approach, in,fact, we feel we could have equipment in place and oper-
ational before the proposed study phase could be completed.
5. If, after we have a capability, P&DS feels the need for a study,
we would be glad to re-open the discussion.
