INTRODUCTION
This report covers the work accomplished on the Chip Format Printer for
June.
GENERAL
Electronic debugging is, for all practical purposes, complete. Minor cleanup
of the electronics is underway. Light tighting, cleanup, photographic tests
and calibration are beginning.
WORK ACCOMPLISHED
Phase 620 - Print Handling and Storage
Debugging in this area is drawing to a close and cleanup is underway. A
modification to the Chip Drop drive mechanism has been designed and is
presently being implemented to cure the Chip Drop malfunctioning. Final
testing of the completed mechanism will begin shortly.
Phase 630 - Character Generator
The character generator drive electronics and mechanisms have been
married to the digital electronics. Messages have been satisfactorily
transferred from tape to memory to cronapress. Minor cleanup of the
mechanism's backlash to improve print quality and final pinning is now
underway.
Phase 640 - Print Console and Positioning
The refabricated X and Y metering rollers have been installed and the Y
axis has been calibrated. Light tighting of the print console is presently
underway.
Phase 650 - Electronics Console
Marriage of the digital electronics with the character generator has brought
digital debugging to a close. At present, minor electrical cleanup in this
area is underway.

Effort for the next period will be directed toward installation and testing of
the chip drop, calibration and testing of the exposure and general cleanup.
