This report is one in a series on Soviet Ground Force a.nd logistic
installations being prepared for a. DIA/CIA Panel. The series is being
coordinated, published. and disseminated by NPIC. The photographic
analysis is being performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group,
the CIA Photographic Intelligence Division (NPIC), and the Production
Center 1Plc (DIA). "].'hc photographic analysis for this particular re-
port was performed by the NPIC Photographic Analysis Group.
In the interest of uniformity, the titles and letter designators for
the facilities observed at these installations are identical with those
appearing in the project requirement. When a specific facility is not
observed both its title and letter designator. are omitted in the report.
Titles and letter designators for the various facilities are as
follows: (A) railroad service, (I3) road service, (C) landing strips,
(D) administrative and troop housing areas, (E) storage areas, (F) am-
munition storage. areas, (G) POL storage areas, (I-I) other buildings and
facilities, (J) equipment storage/maintenance areas, (K) athletic fields,

SUMMARY

Minsk Petroleum Storage Mikhanovichi is
located 18 kilometers (km) south-southeast of
Minsk (Figure 1). The installation is connected
by seconda.x?y roads to the Minsk-Marina Gorka
highway, but is not rail served. Minsk Army
Barracks Uruchye(AL-1)islocatedllkmnorth-
east, Minsk/Machulishche Airfield is 5 km
northwest, and an SA-2 SAM site is located 2
km west. Other military installations are
located in the Minsk area.
The area covers approximately eight acres
and contains nine semiburied POL tanks and
one support building {Figures 2 and 3). Two

ground scars from the installation to the air-
field indicate a possible pipeline connecting the
POL storage area to a rail unloading point at
the airifield. Small scale photography precludes
determination of security measures.
The area is covered by -'T'ALENT
photography and five KEYHOLE missions be-
tween The in-
stallation was under construction in -
Eight tanks were observed on - cover-
age, the ninth tank was first observed on -
_ coverage and no additional changes ob-
served as of coverage.
A secondary road provides access to the
Minsk-Marina Gorka highway.

feet in diameter, and one support building. The
area was observed being cleared in-
