YELSK MRBM COMPLEX. This report supplements NPIC/R-96/64, 1/ which discusses the Yelsk MRBM Complex, previously consisting of two Type I MRBM launch areas. The Yelsk Fixed Field Site (Figure 1) is located in a lightly wooded area at an approx- imate elevation of 460 feet, 3.3 nautical miles (nm) west-northwest of Yelsk in the Belorussian TCS-7836/64 NPIC/R-816/64 25X1 D 25X1A 25X1 D SSR. Yelsk Launch Area No 1 is 9.3 nm to the southeast and Launch Area No 2 is 8.7 nm to the east-southeast. The rail yard at Yelsk is the probable rail-to-road transfer point for the MRBM complex and the field site. The launch areas and the field site are connected to Yelsk and each other by a good, probably all- weather, road network.
