SEARCH OF MISSION 9031 FOR ICBM ACTIVITY
ALONG SOVIET RAIL LINES
This report presents the results of a search, for ICBM activity, of
all rail lines in the USSR covered by photography from KEYHOLE Mission
9031 (February-March 1962). A previous publication 1/ gave the results
of a search of Missions and explained the standards
used. 25X1 D
The total length of Soviet rail line searched with negative results for
ICBM activity in accordance with the established criteria 1/ is now
42,800 nautical miles. The Graphic Supplement* to this report consists
of overlays to the 66 World Aeronautical Charts (WACs) that, together,
show all the connecting rail lines known to exist in the USSR. Sixty-three
of these overlays show the rail lines searched with negative results on
the basis of this and the previous search. These overlays also indicate
the location of all ICBM launch complexes identified to date. The search
of Mission 9031 has resulted in revisions or additions to 36 of the W AC
overlays.
*Copies of the Graphic Supplement have been forwarded to the CIA requester and to the
TALENT Control Officers of Army, Navy, Air Force, and NSA. Further reproduction and dissem-
ination of these overlays to subordinate commands will be the responsibility of the above agencies.
