IDENTIFICATION OF THE BULLDOZER REFERRED TO IN REFERENCE "A" WAS MADE FROM REPORT AND PHOTOS (REF C) OF THE SOVIET MERCHANT SHIP L-SHAPED CRATE COVERED ONLY THE CAB AND ENGINE PORTION OF THE BULLDOZER AND THE TRACKED PORTION WAS VISUALLY EXPOSED. THIS SAME L-SHAPED CRATE WAS OBSERVED IN THE SAME LOCATION ON PHOTO (REF B) AS THE SHIP TRANSITED THE SUEZ CANAL ON 30 SEPTEMBER 1966, HOWEVER, THE TRACKED PORTION OF THE BULLDOZER WAS VISUALLY BLOCKED BY A ZIL-157 TRUCK WHICH WAS PART OF THE DECK CARGO. PHOTOS FROM REF "B" WERE USED AS INSETS ON NPIC BRIEFING BOARD L-2337 PRIMARILY DUE TO OVERALL QUALITY. NEITHER THE BULLDOZER OR CRATE APPEARED ON THE GOOD QUALITY PHOTOGRAPHY FROM AS THE SHIP WAS OBSERVED AT ANCHOR IN THE HAI PHONE ROADSTEAD.
