Approved For Release 2008/02/05: CIA-RDP78BO3826A000200010005-7 lop sb '00 1 T 0 P S E C R E T 012206ZMAY70CITEI 19444 SUBJ: FORMAT CALIBRATION 25X1 25X1 ~~~1013~~ 1. 0 HAS COMPLETED FORMAT CALIBRATIONS OF THE 11 25X1 FRAMES OF MATERIAL FROM CAMERA B, MODEL D. SEVERAL ITEMS OF MUTUAL INTEREST WERE DISCOVERED DURING THIS CALIBRATION. 2. THE LAST SCAN ANGLE DISTANCE (FROM 115 DEGREES TO 120 DEGREES OF SCAN) WAS APPROXIMATELY 500 MICRONS SHORTER THAN ALL THE OTHER SCANS. THIS IS 43 SECONDS OF ARC. (SPECS ARE 20 SECONDS). 3. THE FILM SPEED WAS A CONSTANT (WITHIN 1/10 OF 1 PERCENT) THROUGHOUT EACH FRAME EXCEPT FOR AN AREA NEAR THE CENTER OF SCAN. AT THIS POINT THERE WAS A SLOWDOWN OF 1.3 PERCENT FROM THE AVERAGE FILM SPEED. THIS SLOWDOWN SPANNED AN AREA OF ABOUT 8 INCHES AND THE FILM RETURNED TO NOMINAL SPEED. 4. THE SLIT (OR LIGHT PIPES) WAS MISALIGNED WITH THE DIRECTION OF FILM TRAVEL BY 10.2 MINUTES. THIS APPEARS TO BE WITHIN SPECS SO MAY NOT REQUIRE ANY ACTION. 5. THE START OF OPERATION MARKS WERE NOT POSITIONED IN THEIR PROPER PLACE ON THE FILM AND ONE SET OF START OF FRAME MARKS WERE ALSO NOT POSITIONED PROPERLY. THIS PROBLEM IMPACTS ALL AUTOMATIC EQUIPMENT BEING DEVELOPED FOR EXPLOITATION AND TITLING, AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED IN THE FLIGHT CONFIGURATIONS, IF POSSIBLE. 6. DETAILS OF THESE PROBLEMS CAN BE OBTAINED FROM 25X1 SIGCEN/NOTE CHARGE ADDED ADDRESSEE PER BRANCH REQUEST T 0 P S E C R E T EOM GROUP ONE 25X1 1 Approved For Release 2008/02/05: CIA-RDP78BO3826A000200010005-7
