CONSTRUCTION ON THE BY-PASS WAS FIRST OBSERVED IN NOV 66 (REF B). A COMPLETED LOW WATER LEVEL RAIL FERRY SLIP AT 205939N 1055432E, A COMPLETED MEDIUM WATER LEVEL RAIL FERRY SLIP AT 205944N 1055422E, AND A HIGH WATER LEVEL FERRY SLIP UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT 205952N 1055402E ARE ON THE NORTH RIVER BANK. NONE OF THESE FERRY SLIPS IS OPERATIONAL. METER-GAUGE TRACK IS CONTINUING TO BE LAID ON DUAL-GAUGE TIES ON THE NORTHERN APPROACHES. A PASSING TRACK, APPROXIMATELY 760 FT IN LENGTH, IS OBSERVED ON ONE OF THE APPROACHES AT 205950N t055420E. ONE COMPLETED AND ONE PARTIALLY COMPLETED PROBABLE MEDIUM/HIGH WATER LEVEL RAIL FERRY SLIPS AT 205919N 1055411E AND 205925N 1055406E, RESPECTIVELY, AND THE APPROACH TO THE SITE OF A PROBABLE LOW WATER LEVEL FERRY SLIP AT 205916N 1055418E ARE ON THE SOUTH RIVER BANK. AN ADDITIONAL, PREVIOUSLY REPORTED (REF B) PROBABLE RAIL FERRY SLIP, AT 205941N i055350E, WAS NOT COVERED BY THIS MISSION A DEAD-END, 2-TRACK RAIL SPUR TER- MINATES AT THE SITE OF UNIDENTIFIED CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY AT 205904N '055410E- METER-GAUGE TRACK ON PROBABLE DUAL-GAUGE TIES IS ALSO OBSERVED ON THE SOUTHERN APPROACHES. AN APPROXI- MATELY '60 FT LONG PASSING TRACK IS LOCATED ON ONE OF THE SOUTHERN APPROACHES AT 205916N 055352E.
