TRAINING PLAN FOR THE ADVANCED INTELLIGENCE COURSE
DEFENSE INTELLIGENCE SCHOOL
15 July 1966
a. Introduction. The Defense Intelligence School (DIS) was
astabiishcd on 1 January 1963 as a join: .crvice educational insti-
ution attached to the Defense Intelligence Agency in accordance
Department of Defense Directive 5105.25 dated 2 November 1962,
subject: Defense Intelligence School; and with the DIA plan for.
the establishment of a DIS, amended by the Joint Chiefs of Staff:
;JCS) and further modified and approved by the Secretary of Defense .
The DIS Charter was approved by the JCS on 29 March 1963.
b. Mission. The mission of the DIS,. as set forth in the
establishing DoD Directive and in the DIS Charter, is to conduct
courses of instruction related to DoD intelligence functions. As
a part of this program, the Advanced Intelligence Course provides
for training of senior military officers and key civilian personnel.
c. Location of School. The Defense Intelligence School is
located at the U.S. Naval Station, Washington, D. C. 20390.
2. PURPOSE OF TRAINING PLAN. This Training Plan is prepared
use by the staff and faculty for developing and structuring ar_
,..dvanced course of intelligence instruction aimed at the manage
rm.ent level. The course will be presented twice during FY 67
Course 1-67 convening on 12 September 1966 and Course 2-67 on
27 February 1967. An index is included which provides a tabb:~
ready reference to the course and other details.
a. Instruction is to be offered on the graduate level
are to be no formal examinations, nor will class standing be
established. Each student's progress, however, will be close-
1-,,--supervised by an assigned faculty advisor who will direct the
student in accordance with his educational requirements and previous
experience in intelligence.
b. A wide variety of educational techniques are to be employed
;throughout the course. Lectures by guest speakers are to be the
principle means of instruction. Students will be grouped by study
