The next Brookings Institution's Management and Program Executive Conference will begin on 3 January at the ti ng rence Center in Williamsburg. Represen 2. The Federal Executive Institute gets under way again on 3 January; the session will run through 26 February. 3. Enrollment for the next (11 January) National Inter- departmental Seminar (NIS) still stands at five: three DDS (OC, 1 9a OPT OF); one DDI (OER); and one DDP (AF). has been advised of the status. 25X1A 4. inquired about the status of nominations for DIS's next Survey o. telligence Information Course (11 - 29 January). To date we have received no nominees, but have sent copies of the DIS course announcement to the IPC's and also publicized it in the 9 December Newsletter. AF, an Agency student at the Naval War College needed maps for his discussion on "Geography of Sub-Sahara Africa. " The Map Library provided quick assistance, and the maps were mailed to in time 25X1A9a for his briefing. 6. Another thesis topic: Naval War College, submitted his subject: "Japan and the Nixon Doctrine. " His paper will be unclassified; usual clearance procedures are being followed. 7. On Thursday, 19 December, ten persons from OTR attended a demonstration of the manufactured by 2.5X1 A 2.5X1 A Language School arranged for the demonstration. The Language School already 'has one of the machines and plans to buy one or two more, according to The machine looks similar to a reel-to-reel tape recorder, but it has many additional capabilities. It can: a. Present information step by step, with an automatic stop by the machine b. Repeat any information by step c. Record between step sequence d. Play back recorded information instantly e. Instantly erase temporary recorded information. Nancy thinks the machine may have application in training give n byA TSD or Commo in the operation, maintenance, or testing of 5X1 equipment. If we need a precedent for STO/DDP approval of NSA employees to participate in the IWA course alongside CS students, we can point to approval of an IBM employee attending CS Records I in September. 10. four water colors won first prize in the Crafts portion of the Garden Club Christmas Show sponsored by the EAA at Headquarters.
