The OTR Library Committee visited existing Libraries and special
collections in the Office of Training. Special briefings were
given in the Language Learning Center Library, the OTR Main
Library, the Senior Seminar collection, the Operations School
Library, the Communism collection, and the Finished Intelligence
Collection.
On 19 November, the Library Committee met in the Senior Seminar
Room to discuss the CRS "Survey of Libraries in the Office of
Training." The Chairman indicated that the purpose of the meeting
was to prepare a report reacting to the CRS paper. A copy of the
Library Committee's report on the CRS Survey is available in the
Library Committee folder.
On 21 November, the Chairman and members of the Library Committee
met with C/PDS and to present the Committee's
report. C/PDS was in agreement with the report. A memorandum
for the DTR's signature is to be prepared replying to
and thanking him for his CRS survey.
In addition, C/PDS suggested that before 31 December the OTR
Library Committee survey carefully the Operations Collection
to determine its final disposition. C/PDS suggested that its
customers and needs be studied carefully.
