1. We finished our phase of theMspecial course Friday. 25X1A
It is usual to be pleased with the performance of a class at
the end of a training period but this class warrants special
recognition. We had eleven "live ones" comprising this group.
They were enthusiastic, inquiring, interested, argumentative,
convincible (brave, clean and reverent). They were a joy to
be with. Someone or something should get a lot of credit for
creating such a spirited group. It was either excellent re-
cruiting or else the imminence of their departure turned them
into believers. Would that all trainees were as cooperative
and fired up!

13-page analysis of the status of World Communism, with specific
stress on Latin America. It certainly could be delivered as a
speech by the
City. In addition, provided several selected articles
and readings. However, has received since the luncheon
he and- had with the 1 list of eighteen questions
the letter would like answered. The range of the questions is
fairly sweeping. Here are a few:
"In view of the prospect that unity or movements under
the flag of international Communism is hard, what are the
prospect of international cooperative organizations? Under
ChiCom? Under Soviet Russia? Latin American working body,
AA. working group?"
"Installations (official and unofficial) belonging to
North Korea and chiCom, located in Latin American countries

"Visits made by Communist block countries to LA
nations in the last 3 years (important figures, goodwill,
trade missions etc.)?"
Several of the questions listed, however, relate to material
we are fairl well on top of and we will send as much as we
can to this week.
3. DDP Training officer, was briefed
Thursday morning on the courses and range of activities of SIC.
He was particularly interested, in the newly organized combina-
~1i.on ACO-CPO&O which begins Tuesday, October 26. He also in-
dieated the presentation would 25X1 C
seem to be especially valuable and will publicize the appearance
within DDP to try to get a good-sized audience.
4. We have forwarded a memo to you via the Registrar
requesting permission to cancel the J;SSR Basic Country Surve
course. We had only one registrant We will contact the
student and make any'arrangement necessary if postponement isn't
satisfactory to him.
