1. Plans have been made to connect a nunik~er? of classrooms
to a shoe?t wave receiver which ztiTill permit the use of forUign
language broadcasts dir~;etly in th.~ classroom, ode arc currently
receiving, a.nd trill continue to receivo, lang~x~~.~:e tapes di_reet
.from the T3STA in the popular languages; however, by the time we
rcce:ive the tapes the contents are outdated s,nd have lost some
of their value. Th.e use of direct broadcasts t~Till ~rcatly in-
crease the number of langua~cs available and provide current
news and special events which seems to be desirable,

ll, 165 for a seminar.. The following week, a Persian class is
scliedulcd to go fora 3-day e~,cercise. 'The exterior paini~ing of
25X1A -should be completed this week if the s~rcather remains
good.
3. The lan~ua~c labs were used a total of 100c~ hours dur-
a_ng the four week period ending 26 December; before hours 23,
after hours 6'7, and the weekends totaled 11 hours. The expcri-
i~~~.nt of leaving the lab open on weekends has not presented any
undue problems ar~d we will continue to make it available to
those who wish to use it. The total number of films projected
dtaring the month of D~eember totaled 103.
