1. On 1 November the first of a series of
short courses in Spoken Vietnamese will be started

courses.

years ago when a part-time class was discontinued
because the members were so busy on their desks
that their attendance was very irregular and they
were not preparing their lessons before coming
to class. It was explained to the Branch Chief
that a student in a part-time class needs six

hours in class, plus time in the language laboratory,
plus travel time. The Branch Chief decided that
he could not spare any of his personnel this much
of the time in order to learn the language.

on an out-of-hours basis. He came to 25X1A
for advice and help and it has been arranged that

very eager and the class will start on Friday,

3. Enrollment in Romance Language Courses,
which has been relatively low the last few months,
will pick up next week. We have full-time basic
programs beginning in Italian, Portuguese and
Spanish as well as both full- and part-time programs
in French.
