Tuesday morning, 15 May, and I met with
to discuss OTRIs
contribution to the DCI permanent exhibit. Mr. -
asked if OTR could provide a three-dimensional mock-up
of the as well as some kind of graphic
illustration to show how an E & E net works. Doug and I
agreed to discuss this with and, also, to see whether
=had any other suggestions for visual-type exhibits.
We also agreed to provide Messrs.
with a list of OTR training items which mmig be o
interest.
After talking with C/OS, DDTR and I
called to check on the requested training aids.
village that had been used four or five
years ago that I thought might be of interest. However,
reported back that the little village and other
old models that had been stored away have disintegrated
beyond repair. Because of the several high-priority
programs now in progress it was agreed that OTR
could not offer the facilities of its Visual Aids Branch
to Prepare such items at this time.

Doug and I met Mr. deadline of Wednesday
morning by providing CA with a list of OTR items
which can be shown, if DDP wishes.
2. Upon m return f CA- I found an urgent message
to call WE , FT Staff. Mildly bemused, I got
in touch h who told me that he had a crash
requirement from fltopsidelt and hoped that we would be
able to help him meet it. He explained that the DCI
was very interested in having an exhibit of intelligence
aids set up on a permanent basis and that the FT Staff
had been directed to contribute a graphic presentation
of the intelligence collection effort in the counter-
insurgency field.
I told Frank that we had already heard the crash and
were busy working out our own part of the exhibit. I
suggested that he might find it helpful to come down and
talk to us and look over certain training papers we have
on collection which might stimulate his thinking. I
gather that his interest is not in the intelligence cycle
(the moves from raw data to the finished intelligence
report), but rather in the techniques of acquiring intel-
ligence as a support to countering insurgency. At any
rate when Frank comes to see us we should have a clearer
picture of precisely what he is after and we will try to
be as helpful as we can.

C. ADMINISTRATIVE 1 TM1S :
We do not need the voice of the turtle to tell us
summer is nigh: Eva is on leave in Florida, Ruth is on
a weekts leave at home and the rest of the staff is busily
calculating a leave schedule for the coming months. With
the arrival of - replacement the end of May it is
anticipated that we will be able to divide our holidays
and still maintain working efficiency. Our current
problem is not the division of holidays but the division
of our offices. We earnestly hope that the iron curtain
between 5309 and 5313 will soon be lifted and a door
installed.
