pointed out that the Agencies were best qualified,to produce any special
maps required in addition to the base maps and.that such special maps
should be kept to a minimum. The Navy member stated that Navy had not
received the base maps listed as "issued". Capt. Knowles said that he
would look into the matter. (Note: Upon investigation it was determined
that sufficient copies of the preliminary base maps for all Chapter II
contributors had been supplied to ID who is responsible for distributing
them.)
6. It was explained that the maintenance of any given NIS begins
when any original portion of the NIS has been finished - not according
to any specific beginning date.
7. Regarding State-Army collaboration on Chapter IV (Army is
responsible for Section 45), it was decided that, if State'does not work
areas concurrently being worked on by Army in sufficient numbers to
absorb Army's capabilities to produce Sections 45, Army should arbitrarily
choose the areas on which it desired to work, and that Section 45 might
then be published as produced.
8. In response to a question by the State member, it was explained
that only the biographic data pertaining to key personnel should be
included in Chapter V and that these should be included in the text and
not compiled in separate lists.
