Research, Development and Production Review Board
I. Meeting #56 of the Research, Development and Production Review Board
was held in the OC Conference Room at 1430 hours on 2 May 1956.
The following persons were in attendance:

Ii. Under Agenda Item 1, Old Business:
The! Minutes of Meeting #55 and the ecial meeting of 19 April 1956 25X1A
were approved, and it was noted that name was
inadvertently omitted from the list of those attending Meeting #55,
and attending the special meeting on 19 April 1956.
III. Under Agenda Item II, New Business:
1. Report was made to the Board of the current projects at the
Research and Development Laboratory.
2. The Operations and Training Division reported as follows.*
a. That a decision had been made to permit the Laboratory
to construct five AR-2 units for operation from 6. volt source and.a
balance of units to be AR-3 type with a 12 voltage primary power
source. In the future any additional AR-3's will utilize 12 volts
as a power source.

b. A survey had been made to determine how many base station
units were available in Coamio stock. It was determined
that there was one unit in-and one unit in the Laboratory.
c. The Operations & Training Division is continuing its
evaluation of the CV-1 transistorized converter. It had been determined
that the present units would not operate satisfactorily with an AC-DC
type of receiver, but this was not considered to be a serious problem
since this type of unit does not generally exist in foreign areas.
d. Operational tests are being run jointly by O&T and
Engineering on the mingle side band equipment (SSE-l).
e. The project assigned by the Research and Develo ent
Board to O&T for a determination as to present and future
equipment requirements was still under study.
f. Training of Operations personnel for activating of a
was in progress.
3. Discussion of budgeting for development of items that may
go into production during Fiscal Years 1957 and 1958. The following
recommendations were agreed to by the Board:
