PROBLEM'!
To provide adequate, fireproof and secure housing for TSS.
FACTS BEARING ON THE PROBLEM
At present, those activities of TSS housed in Quarters I lack
adequate protection against fire, and security needs imnrnvpmpn+_
is avai.iaoie through Public Buildings Service, GSA. The building
is of brick and concrete construction, is structurally sound, and
has 38,187 square feet of floor space on three floors. The amount
of $15,000 of FY 1953 funds were obligated to PSB for engineering
fees. The cost of reconstruction and renovation is estimated at
$372,04-1.29. Funds are available ($147,041.29 already in General
Services Office, $75,000 available for transfer from the Office of
Training, and $150,000 available for transfer from DD/P.)
ACTION
At its meeting on 4 November 1953, the Project Review Committee
approved the amount of $372,041,29 to carry out the project as pro-
posed, it being noted that the Acting Deputy Director, Administration
would advise the Bureau of the Budget in the event the project is
approved.
RECf4+ENDATION
That the Director approve the expenditure from FY 1954 funds of
$372,041.29 to effect the reconstruction and renovation of
- as proposed for the use of TSS.
