MEMORANDUM FOR: Special Assistant to the Deputy Director for Support
SUBJECT : Office of Finance Projects Requiring Computer Application
REFERENCE Memo to C/AD/0CS, dtd 22 Mar 66, fm D/Fin, same subject
1, Reference (copy attached) transmitted to the Office of Computer
Services a list of projects considered at that time appropriate for computer
application with identification of the requested timing for such applications,
There are many other areas relating to the financial management functions
performed by this Office which are considered essential for computer
applications as soon as programming capabilities by the Office of Computer
Services become available,
2, In order to provide you, as the coordinator for the Deputy Director
for Support, with information as to the long-term requirements of this Office
for computer applications, insofar as they are now known; attached is a list
of projects which would be sound for computer applications, together with
identification of the relative timing which should be accorded each, The
projects listed in the Attachment are in addition to the thirteen (13)
projects previously reported to the Office of Computer Services in reference.
3, Many of the projects identified in the Attachment have been the
subject of discussions with representatives of the Office of Computer Services;
however, action by this Office to transmit specific written proposals or work
orders for most of the projects listed to the Office of Computer Services has
been purposely deferred because of the indications received from that Office
that it is not in a position to undertake additional programming requirements
for some time to come, It is believed important, nevertheless, to provide
this list of computer applications to you for your information in connection
with both your computer coordinating responsibility and your general
responsibility for supervising the activities of the Resources Study Groups.
