My disability retirement has been approved by the Civil Service and my resig-
nation from the Agency becomes effective at the end of this month.
Since the expected pension (about $50 a week) is obviously insufficient to sup-
port a wife and 2 children, and since I have been assured of clearance for contract work,
I wonder if it would be possible for me to get some of the Russian translation work (un-
cla
ton
My own inquiries into the matter did not yield any information at all. I feel,
however, that a little assist from someone in a position to do so would help a great deal.
So if you can do anything to help me get even a trickle of the voluminous outflow of
material (for part-time work at home), it would alleviate hardship and would be greatly
appreciated.
After spending about half of my productive life in government service, I find
it a bit difficult to begin life from scratch, particularly as an invalid.

I have discussed this with Shelf Edwards and we see no objection to using
unclassified translation work. However, he should not become an employee
of either the Agency or one of its proprietaries. I have told only that I thought
we could help him and that someone would get in touch with him t a few days.
