1. The accompanying letter from the Veterans Administration is
forwarded for appropriate action by your Office. The letter was
undoubtedly addressed to because previous correspondence had been
prepared for my signature.
2. Initially, on 19 August 1953, the VA called to the attention 25X1A
of the DCI the indebtedness of aan ea ployee of the Office
of Communications) to that Agency (t of $128.13 as a result 25X1A
of subsistence overpayment. Our assistance in persuading
effect settlement was requested by the VA,
3. Subsequently, on 2 November 1953 the VA reiterated its request
of 19 August 1953, at the same time pointing out that the CIA had
failed to reply to its first letter. Investigation of the reasons for
not responding to the 19 August letter indicated that the letter had

oversight no reply was prepared- KY reply (dated 14 i mber 1953)
to the second VA letter reported that was ageing to make 25X1A
payment in the aunt of $13.00 a smith.
