Transfer of Nap Intelligence Division and Joint Intelligence
Studies Publishing Board staff, Department of State to (RZ, CIG.
1. As approved by the National Intelligenee Authority at
its meeting of 26 June 1947, the Nap Intelligence (NI) and Joint
Intelligence Studies Publishing board (JISPB) activities of the
Department of State are being transferred to CBS as specifically
reoonsended in the eatery report attached (Tab A) and subject to
the agreement (,Tab B) between the Department of State and the
Central Intelligence Group.
2. A brief description of the MI activity as a central ser-
vice appropriate for integration into CIG is attached (Tab C).
3. This activity is established as the Nap Intelligence
Branch, ORE, with as approved organisation and tentative table
of organisation as attached (Tab D).
4. The JISPB factions are integrated into the Basic
Intelligence Group, (*2. A list of individuals now performing
the JISPS famotion is attached (Z").
Coordinate with the Personnel Branch, MM to
effect .esarity clearances, establish the
proper classification grades with the Civil
Service Commission, and complete the transfer
of the personnel.
Integrate proper functions, table us organisa-
tion positions, and personnel of the Graphics
Division, Reference Center into the Nap Iatelli-
seaae Branch.
Integrate table of organisation positions,
personnel, and activities concerned with oartog-
rapby now in the Presentation Division and Basic
Intelligence Group into the Cartography Division,
Nap Intelligence Branch.

State Dept. declassification & release Jifistructions on file
 (d) coordinate with other Offices and staffs of
CIO and other departants and agencies of
the Government to establish the proper func-
tioning of the Map Intelligence Drench and
the JISPB activities is CIG.
6. The Manngeaent Branch, A&M will give you all desired
assistance in connection with the establishment of these
activities in ME.
