SUBJECT : Office of Security Statistical Report
for FEBRUARY 1966
1. The attached tables reflect some of the activities of certain
components of the Office of Security during February 1966.
2. The statistics in the tables are compiled by the component
concerned and refer to the current month.
3. The following statistics are furnished for the purpose of
comparison between this month and previous months:

The overall caseload for the overt, semi-covert and covert cases increased
slightly (13 cases) over the month of January 1966 and 250 cases over
February 1965. With February being a short month, it is anticipated that
the workload for March will greatly exceed that of February and previous
months.

4. The following are noteworthy items for the month:

c. The Director of Security attended a meeting conducted
by Dr. Tietjen, Chief, Medical Staff, concerning the seminar on
alcoholism.

e. A proposed program for raising funds for the Educational
Aid Fund of the Agency was drawn up for the DDS in coordination
with the Executive Secretary and the General Counsel of the Fund.

f. Members of the SSC initiated action with members of the

Pentagon in arriving at a unified position to guide in the selection
of material and concepts to be placed under compartmented security
protection.

k. A survey of the
Maryland, was conducted at the request of the Pentagon component
of an inter-Agency program. bras contracted to perform a
study to recommend improvements of automation techniques re-
lated to all aspects of a special operations center established at
the Pentagon under a joint CIA/DOD program.
1. A memorandum was prepared for the Deputy Director
of Central Intelligence which contained the results of an investiga-
tion on the missing and a recommendation was
included to prevent a recurrence of this type incident.
n. On behalf of the Office of the DCI, a crash investigation
of the operating out of
the Cleveland, Ohio, area was conducted. This organization,
headed by one
had invited the DCI to membership. It was recom-
mended that the DCI decline the invitation on the grounds that
membership might result in personal or Agency embarrassment.

to assess the capabilities of those
governments to protect U. S. classified military information.
q. The Special Security Center prepared a policy paper
on the international political ramifications of a matter that falls
into the purview of compartmented security. The paper will be
used in negotiations between a joint CIA/DOD component and the
Department of State.
