for SEPTEMBER 1965
1. The attached tables reflect some of the activities of certain
components of the Office of Security during September 1965.
2. The statistics in the tables are compiled by the component
concerned and refer to the current month.
3. The following statistics are furnished for the purpose of

f. The newly appointed Ambassador to Poland was briefed
on the technical threat behind the Iron Curtain.
g. The Office of Security hosted an audio countermeasures
detection seminar with representatives of the Army, Air Force
and the Naval Research Laboratory.
h. A member of the President's Scientific Advisory Com-
mittee, Charles S. Draper, was provided with a realities briefing
in connection with his forthcoming attendance at the All-Union
Conference on Automatic Controls to be held in Odessa, USSR.

j. IRD's Training Officer has been selected by the Office
of Training for an assignment PCS to head up a rnrreA ;,,

m. An ad hoc working group of the Security Committee
has reviewed and considered existing procedures within the de-
partments and agencies governing the foreign releases of intel-
ligence. The group also considered the draft of the USIB Policy
Statement establishing uniform security procedures in the com-
munity. A revised draft will be submitted for consideration to
the working group in the near future.
n. An Office of Security position paper on the question of
providing compartmented information in the ELINT field to the
25X1 C8C I I_as prepared for the Chairman of COMOR who presented
it to that Committee for approval.
o. The Special Security Center prepared a security
position for inclusion in a briefing for the DCI on the question
of retaining special security controls over the end-products of a
sensitive intelligence collection program.
p. The Sixth Annual Report of the Security Committee
was circulated to the USIB principals covering major activities
of the Committee for the period 1 May 1964 to 30 June 1965.

1965. The Bill waives the 10-year statutory requirements in the
case of aliens who were members of the Communist Party and
who are applying for U. S. citizenship.

s. Because of the breakdown of Agency payroll computers,
Security support was rendered in the transportation of tapes and
cards of all Agency personnel to an alternate computer in Baltimore
in order that payrolls could be met on time.
t. Support assistance was rendered to two staff
employees medically evacuated from their posts overseas to

the United States for medical treatment of serious illnesses.
Compassionate assistance was also rendered to the --ife, f a
contract employee during her hospitalization
