Approved For Rele 2000/0 EV DATE 22 Bi R DOD .~ I ORSG CUMP 2 ON ORIG CL MEMORANDUM FOR: Acting Director of Security Office of Security Statistical. Report for January 1959 1. The attached tables and charts reflect some of the activities of certain components of the office during January 1959. The statistics in the tables are compiled by the component concerned; the charts are prepared in this office from the statistics furnished by the. components. 10 2. You will note that several changes have been made in the format and content of this report with the objective of improving the coverage and its usability. 3. A new sheet containing the list of tables and charts is added at the front of the report as an index aid. The order of sequence for tables and charts has been changed so that charts now follow the tables to which they refer. It is believed that this will be an aid in using the report as a reference. 4. A new table showing Medical-Security-Personnel Review Panel Actions has been included as "Table A-1" supplementary to Table A which is the record of statistics of overt and semi covert cases. 5. A new chart #6 showing the cases received for full field investigations is included this month. The first statistic this month shows only those overt and semi covert cases reported in Table D received for full field investigation. Next month similar statistics for covert cases will be included in Table D so that henceforth the full field investigative load will be recorded on chart #6. 6. It was disclosed, during preparation of the annual 1958 report that the Physical Security Division had during the year included overseas security violations in its monthly reports without identifying them as such. This resulted in an error in the statistics which is being remedied with this report by providing a separate statistic for overseas violations. Chart #8 has been prepared to reflect both Headquarters and overseas violations. Approved For Release 2000/08/2,8-tA-RDP78-04004R000100120001-3 Approved For Relea96 2000/fl T8,z9j0400100120001-3 7. It was also disclosed that the old form for Physical Security activities is no longer adequate for reporting the growing variety of these activities. A new form "Table F" is being used starting with this report and will be tried for a few months before reducing it to a printed form. 8. A new temporary form "Table G" has been added to reflect Physical Security activities connected with the new building. This will be continued as a temporary table and may be revised as need dictates. It will be eliminated upon completion of the new building. 9. Also transmitted herewith is a copy of the Activities Reports for December 1958 so that the statistics and trends for the month of January 1959 may be compared with those of last year.
